BPEC Domestic Solar Hot Water Heating Course

Solar Thermal systems convert sunlight to heat for heating domestic hot water. The BPEC Solar Thermal Hot Water course is designed for experienced plumbing and heating installers to give them the knowledge and skills required to enable them to select the most appropriate solar thermal hot water system for a building based on consultation with the client about their needs and demands, to install any of the common types of solar domestic hot water heating systems in the UK in a safe and workmanlike manner, and to maintain and service the common types of solar domestic hot water heating systems.

Legionella Awareness Course

Outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease seem all-too common and are never far away from the TV news reports. Almost every month brings news of an outbreak in a hospital, old peoples’ home, school or hotel somewhere in the UK.

BPEC Solar Photovoltaic

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems convert sunlight to electricity. The Solar PV course is designed to provide already practicing electrical installers with all the skills and knowledge required to enable them to select the most appropriate solar PV system for a building based on consultation with the client about their needs and demands, to install any of the common types of PV systems in a safe and workmanlike manner. It also provides training in the maintenance and servicing of PV systems.

BPEC - Installation of Above Ground Sanitary Pipe work and Rainwater Systems in Domestic Properties

Ground Sanitary Pipe work & Rainwater Systems is aimed primarily at practicing plumbing and heating engineers who already have knowledge of the fundamental requirements of above ground sanitary pipe work and rainwater systems. The course aims to update their knowledge to meet the requirements of the current Building Regulations.

BPEC - Air & Ground Source Heat Pumps

The Heat Pumps course is designed to provide already practicing installers with all the skills and knowledge required to enable them to select the most appropriate heat pump for a building based on consultation with the client about their needs and demands, to install any of the common types of ground source or air source heat pumps in a safe and workmanlike manner. It also provides training in the maintenance and servicing of heat pumps.

Legionella Course

Legionella Prevention and Water Treatment Operatives course is designed for installers who carryout work on water supply systems within residential properties, enabling them to understand the requirements of the ACoP document L8, HSE guidance, British Standards and Water Regulations.

Water Regulations Assessments

The Water Regulations and Water Byelaws courses have been developed in collaboration with WRAS, the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme for England and Wales and are targeted at individuals who wish to carry out work with their local water company. Successful candidates are encouraged to join WIAPS – WRAS’s Approved Plumbers Scheme, which will let them carry out work without having to be approved by their local water company. An alternative is to join the Approved Contractors Scheme for those water supply companies that operate their own schemes. Upon completion of work, the Approved Plumber will issue a certificate for work completion to both the owner/occupier and the water company, making the Approved Plumber liable for any difficulties with this installation.

Unvented and Vented Hot Water Systems Assessment

This course is designed to train engineers in the installation and safety requirements for domestic vented and unvented hot water systems and is designed to meet the requirements of Building Regulation G3.
