TPCP1A Tightness testing and purging to IGE/UP/1A
Introduction
Course designed for both new entrants and experienced practitioners, to enable candidates to understand the concepts of testing and purging large pipework installations, including risk assessments and calculations.
Course objectives/key benefits
On completion delegates will be able to demonstrate their safety awareness and competency in the contents of the course listed below in Natural Gas, or LPG.
Who is the course aimed at?
Anyone who intends to work on industrial/commercial gas installations and holds, or is intending to undertake at the same time, a core commercial gas qualification (CCCN1) or appropriate changeover qualification.
Course content
- Requirements of IGE/UP/1A and/or IGE/UP/1 (as applicable)
- Risk Assessment to TCPC1A (Any section of pipework, inc. appliance/plant pipework: • volume ≤ 1 m³ inc. meter and any allowance for fittings and • MOP ≤ 40 mbar at outlet of the primary meter regulator and • supply MOP ≤ 75 mbar and • of diameter ≤ 150 mm where lengths are limited to maximum in tables in IGE/UP/1A. For testing larger installations; higher pressures; other gases, refer to TPCP 1.)
- Calculating testing and purging pressures and times
- Undertaking testing and purging
Training Method
Practical workshop and theory
Assessment
Candidates will be eligible to undertake the relevant commercial/industrial gas pipework assessments immediately following the training.
Course outcome/qualification
Recommendation for appropriate ACS commercial gas assessment(s).
Materials required/provided
The assessment, following this training, is open book and it is therefore highly recommended that candidates undertaking it have an up-to-date gas publication.
Candidates will also be provided with a training pack
